Materials Needed:

1 Rycraft cookie stamp or craft stamp each: #290 - Satin Heart  and #215 - Love Birds
Clay - we recommend Creative Paperclay® which is non-toxic and air dries to a paintable pure white
4 clay castings* each: #290 - Satin Heart, and #215 - Love Birds (see Basic Clay Casting Instructions)
Sandpaper or emery board
Acrylic primer
Acrylic paints: white
Foam brush or Spouncer™ by PLAID®
Soft cloth
Cake from bakery already frosted (see photo). Optional: Use an unfrosted cake and use your own cake decorating supplies to apply frosting.
Toothpicks

*Note:  Alternately, the casting for this project may be made from paper instead of clay (see Basic Paper Casting Instructions). The choice is yours.
Instructions:

1.  While clay is still wet, use a knife to trim castings close to the designs (or use a cookie cutter). Let dry.
2.  Sand any rough edges smooth.
3.  Apply a coat of primer to both sides of each casting and let dry.
4.  Paint castings white. Let dry.
5.  Optional: Use Rub 'n Buff® to highlight castings (see instructions in Techniques for Special Effects)
6.  Optional: With cake decorating supplies, pipe borders on your cake including one around the middle of the cake (or have your local bakery do this for you).
7.  Making sure they are evenly spaced, put 8 toothpicks along the middle border as markers for placing your castings (toothpicks are easy to see and adjust when looking down at the cake).
8.  Remove toothpicks one at a time, and press castings in their places, alternating the designs.
9.  Make cake top per instructions (below), and place it on top of the cake.

3.  Apply primer to both sides of castings.
4.  Paint castings white. Let dry.
5.  Use Rub 'n Buff® to highlight castings (see instructions in Techniques for Special Effects).
6.  From cardboard, cut a triangle with sides 2 1/2" long. Glue 2 toothpicks, bamboo skewers, or wire (cut down to 3") to the base of the triangle (see closeup).
7.  Glue corner pieces from the square doily to both sides of the triangle (see closeup).
8.  Glue castings to thee doily-covered triangle as follows:
     (1) On one side, glue the satin heart with no bottom ribbons to the top. Glue the other satin hearts below it.
     (2) On the other side, glue the love birds to the top and the tulip duos below it. Overlapping is not a problem - it adds extra dimension to the piece. (Refer to photos)
9.  Gather a small tuft of tulle using thread or wire. Push it up through the toothpicks, and hot glue it in place at the base of the cardbaord.
10.  Optional: Hot glue a spray of pearls and beads into the tulle as shown.
11.  Optional: Hot glue one satin bow to each side of the cake top where the tulle touches the base of the triangle. This will hide any wire or thread.
This clay casting project is featured along with dozens of others
in our book The Art of Clay Casting, which includes basic paper casting
