544 Dog Bone Rycraft Cookie Stamp

Snickerpoodles

Ingredients

1 or more Rycraft cookie stamps (shown above #544 – Dog Bone)

1/4 cup vegetable oil

1/4 cup margarine

1/2 cup honey

1 egg

2 cups flour

1 teaspoon cream of tartar

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 cup plain fine dry bread crumbs or cornmeal

1 teaspoon cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice, or baking spice

Method

Preheat oven to 400° F. Mix vegetable oil, shortening and honey together until smooth. Add egg and beat well. Blend in flour, baking soda, and cream of tartar. Mix bread crumbs or cornmeal with spice of choice. Roll into scant 1-inch balls. Roll balls into mixture. Place on cookie sheet that has been sprayed with a nonstick spray. Press the balls down with a fork twice going in 2 different directions, or press with your favorite cookie stamp. Bake 10 to 12 minutes.

Henry, our black lab, has decided that they were delicious, but a little too large and chewy. So next time I’m going to make them a little smaller and bake them a little longer until I know they will be nicely crisp when they cool.

Harvest Biscuits

Ingredients

1 or more Rycraft cookie stamps

3 jars baby food (squash, green beans, carrots)

1 cup TVP granules*

1 cup hot water

1 cup nutritional yeast

1 cup wheat germ

1 cup whole wheat flour

1 teaspoon poultry seasoning

1 teaspoon garlic

1/4 cup oats

1/4 cup cornmeal

2 tablespoons alfalfa

*TVP is texturized vegetable protein, a soy product found at many natural foods stores and major grocery stores.

Method

In a small bowl combine TVP and hot water. Allow to rest 10 minutes. In a large bowl combine baby food, TVP mixture, yeast, wheat germ, flour, seasoning, and garlic. Stir till combined. Form into 1” balls. In a small bowl combine oats, cornmeal, and alfalfa. Roll each ball into oat mixture to coat. Place balls on greased cookie sheet. Mash with the back of a fork or a cookie stamp. Bake at 350° F. till browned and firm.
