#420 – Holly Sprig
Christmas Ornament
Clay Casting Project

Now you can create unique handmade ornaments that look
just as yummy as the holiday cookies you're serving!

Materials Needed:

1 Rycraft cookie stamp or craft stamp #420 – Holly Sprig
Clay - we recommend Creative Paperclay® which is non-toxic and air dries to a paintable pure white
1 clay casting* #420 – Holly Sprig (see Basic Clay Casting Instructions).
Crimper cookie cutter
Sandpaper or emery board
Acrylic primer
Acrylic paints: green, red
Ribbon, cord, or fishing line for hanger
Hot glue

*Note:  Alternately, the casting for this project may be made from paper instead of clay (see Basic Paper Casting Instructions). The choice is yours.
Instructions:
1.  While clay is wet, cut out casting with crimper cookie cutter and let dry.
2.   Sand rough edges smooth.
3.  Apply a coat of primer and let dry.
4.  Apply green paint to holly leaves, and red paint to holly berries. Let dry.
5.  Use hot glue to attach hanger to back.
This clay casting project is featured along with dozens of others
in our book The Art of Clay Casting, which includes basic paper casting
instructions, techniques for special effects, and a glossary of terms.
