384 "DAD" Magnet Project
#384 – "DAD" Magnet
Clay Casting Project

A great gift project for the kids to make for Dad!

Materials Needed:

1 Rycraft cookie stamp or craft stamp #384 – "DAD"
Clay* - we used Creative Paperlay® which air dries to a paintable pure white (no oven needed)
1 clay casting* - #384 – "DAD" (see Basic Clay Casting Instructions)
1   2"-diameter round cookie cutter
Sandpaper or emery board (fine grit)
Acrylic primer (optional)
Acrylic clear varnish (optional)
Acrylic paints: ivory, dark brown, rust, red (or whatever colors you like)
Tacky glue or hot glue
1 magnet (from a craft store).

*Note:  Alternately, the casting for this project may be made from paper instead of clay (see Basic Paper Casting Instructions). The choice is yours.

1.  While clay is wet, cut out casting using cookie cutter. Let dry.
2.  Sand rough edges smooth.
3.  Optional: Apply primer and let dry.
4.  Apply ivory paint to background and let dry. Apply colors to design (as shown), one color at a time and let dry.
5.  Optional:  Apply a coat of varnish for permanence. Note: Varnish will leave a more glossy finish.
6. Use hot glue to attach magnet to back.
