#315 – Trout Tie Tack
Clay Casting Project
Create a unique handcrafted gift for Dad or Grandpa!

Shown above:  #315 – Trout,    #264 – Dolphin

Materials Needed:

1 Rycraft cookie stamp or craft stamp #315 – Trout
Clay - we recommend Creative Paperclay® which is non-toxic and air dries to a paintable pure white 
1 clay casting* #315 – Trout (see Basic Clay Casting Instructions
Exacto® knife or sharp knife
Sandpaper or emery board
Acrylic paints: terra cotta, gray-blue
Tie tack assembly (from craft store)
Tacky glue

*Note:  Alternately, the casting for this project may be made from paper instead of clay (see Basic Paper Casting Instructions). The choice is yours.

1.  While clay is still wet, trim casting close to the design with a sharp knife. Let dry.
2.  Sand any rough edges smooth.
3.  Apply a coat of terra cotta paint and let dry.
4.  Use the dry brush method (see 
Techniques for Special Effects) to apply the gray-blue paint and let dry.
5.  Glue tie tack to back of casting.
6.  After glue is dry, apply terra cotta paint to back of casting.
7.  Apply a coat of varnish front and back, and let dry.
