#285 – Star Bright
Christmas Ornament
Clay Casting Project

Create stars to cover your Christmas tree!
And delicious shortbread cookies to match!

Materials Needed:

1 Rycraft cookie stamp or craft stamp #285 – Star Bright
Clay - we recommend Creative Paperclay® which is non-toxic and air dries to a paintable pure white
1 clay casting* #285 – Star Bright (see Basic Clay Casting Instructions).
Sharp knife
Sandpaper or emery board

Optional: paints in your choice of colors (we used gold)
Hot glue and glue gun, or white glue

Ribbon, cord, or fishing line

*Note:  Alternately, the casting for this project may be made from paper instead of clay (see Basic Paper Casting Instructions). The choice is yours.
Instructions:
1.  While clay is wet, cut out casting with knife following the shape of the design, and let dry.
2.  Sand rough edges smooth.
3.  Apply a coat of primer and let dry.
4.  Apply gold paint to the design as shown in photograph. Let dry.
5.  Glue ribbon, cord, or fishing line to top of ornament as a hanger.

This clay casting project is featured along with dozens of others
in our book The Art of Clay Casting, which includes basic paper casting
instructions, techniques for special effects, and a glossary of terms.
